Treaty Update
On Sept. 25 Burundi became the 145th state to ratify and on Sept. 26 TimorLeste became the 180th state to sign the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty. In a joint statement Sept. 24, foreign ministers of more than 80 countries called on all states to continue their moratoria on testing of nuclear weapons and particularly urged nine states to ratify the treaty so it can enter into force: China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Iran, Israel, North Korea, Pakistan, and the United States.
