Vic: Man killed son after argument over drugs, court hears
A Melbourne man will stand trial accused of killing his son at a family party becausehe was angered by his use of marijuana.
Senior crown prosecutor BORIS KAYSER has told the Melbourne Magistrates Court that37-year-old TEREPAI MAKIKE elbowed his son two or three times in the head, causing hisdeath.
Eighteen-year-old BENIAMINA MAKIKE died from a brain hemorrhage after a blood vesselruptured in his neck.
An earlier hearing was told that on June 8 last year the factory worker lost his temperwhen he overheard his son trying to persuade a younger relative to smoke marijuana.
After MAKIKE told his son to pack his bags and leave, a scuffle broke out leading tothe fatal assault.
Magistrate COLIN MACLEOD has ruled there's sufficient evidence for MAKIKE to face aSupreme Court jury on a manslaughter charge.
MAKIKE has pleaded not guilty and remains on bail ahead of a directions hearing on July 1.
