WATCH IT! // THE TV MONITOR

MORE `BODIES': On hiatus since last summer, the (STAR) (STAR) copdrama "Bodies of Evidence" returns for a second CBS season at 9 p.m.Fridays on Channel 2, starting tonight. Lee Horsley from "Guns ofParadise" and "Matt Houston" tries to be tough and sensitive as Lt.Ben Carroll, the hands-on boss of an urban homicide squad.

In tonight's cases, Carroll heeds his instincts and supports ateenager wrongly suspected of rape and murder. "Bodies" is anold-fashioned police series with stiff characters and creaky plots. It makes me realize how much I'll miss NBC's inventive "Homicide,"which ended its short run Wednesday.

SON SUES MOM: ABC aired the first "Gregory K" movie two monthsago. Now CBS is presenting its (STAR) (STAR) version of the truth at8 p.m. Sunday with "A Place To Be Loved," a sentimental account ofthe 12-year-boy who sued his mother last year so he could be adoptedby his foster parents. (Gregory's dad waived his parental rightsbefore the controversial court case began.)

Reliable Richard Crenna shows his softer side as Gregory'sfoster father. Rhea Perlman (Carla from "Cheers") is hard torecognize as the plaintiff's lawyer. The best speech goes to LindaKelsey, who gently explains why she would be a better mom for theboy.

The script was authorized by Gregory (whose name is now SeanRuss), his adoptive parents and the boy's lawyer. "A Place To BeLoved" is heavily slanted in their favor.
