SWARTZ NAMED TO POST AT HEARST NEWSPAPERS.(BUSINESS)

NEW YORK -- The Hearst Corp. said Wednesday that Steven R. Swartz, 38, has been named executive vice president of Hearst Newspapers, effective Jan. 1.

The announcement was made jointly by Frank A. Bennack Jr., president and chief executive officer of The Hearst Corp., and George B. Irish, president of Hearst Newspapers. Swartz will report to Irish and serve as his deputy, joining Irish in the oversight of the company's 12 daily newspapers.
