Coral alarms to protect reef.(Environment)

Deep-sea fishing trawlers may be fitted with alarms to warn them away from ancient corals off the coast of Ireland. Boulders the size of cars and great chunks of coral reef are being thrown up by the advanced fishing equipment that many of these trawlers now have.

'These coral reefs are among the most pristine environments on earth, they are completely untouched by man,' Jason Hall-Spencer, a biologist from the University of Plymouth, told delegates at the BA festival of Science in Dublin. 'Now is the time to act to protect the few that are still looking good,' he said.
